Reach Your Fitness Goals with RPM

RPM, also known as spin, is a high-intensity indoor cycling workout. This cardio workout is suitable for individuals of all fitness levels, focusing on endurance, strength, intervals, and recovery — giving your body a complete workout! It’s fun, low impact, and you can burn up to 500 calories a session. 

New to RPM classes? We run them at our Morley Sista Fitness club, ideal for women in the Morely area and surrounding suburbs like Bedford, Inglewood, and Mt Lawley. Let’s take a closer look at these workouts and how they can help you on your fitness journey. 

What happens in an RPM session? 

Born from the sport of cycle racing, RPM uses simulated climbs and sprints in a workout where you control the intensity. It’s just like riding a bike — except way easier! You don’t have to worry about typical outdoor riding hassles like traffic, bad weather, uneven terrain, pedestrians, or getting lost. And, since the bike is stationary, you don’t even have to wear a helmet.  

In an RPM workout, you repeatedly rotate the pedals to reach your cardio peak then ease back down, keeping pace with the pack to lift your personal performance and boost your cardio fitness. Your instructor takes you on a journey of hill climbs, sprints and flat riding, as if you were riding in an outdoor environment. 


Gear Up for Your RPM Session 

Starting a new class can be exciting and a little daunting. Before you dive into the world of RPM, it’s a good idea to come prepared. Just like your usual gym gear, wear breathable, moisture-wicking clothing to keep comfortable throughout the session. A pair of sturdy, supportive shoes is a must — you can wear specialist cycling shoes if you have them, but these aren’t necessary. Of course, bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during the session. 


Attending for the first time? 

When attending for the first time, we suggest you arrive 5 – 10 minutes before class starts to get acquainted with the setup and choose your bike. Your instructor will show you how to set up your bike as well as all the basic cycling moves. This will also give you a chance to ask the instructor any questions.

Les Mills Virtual RPM Classes 

If you prefer to workout from the comfort of your home or simply can’t make it to Sista Fitness Morely, we’ll bring the energy and dynamism of our RPM studio to you. Les Mills Virtual RPM Classes are streamed online, allowing you to join in from anywhere while still experiencing the community vibe and high-energy atmosphere that Les Mills classes are known for.
