Walk With Me and step up for youth mental health.
This year during Mental Health Week (8th to 15th October), you’re invited to join Sista Fitness in the Walk With Me fundraiser. You can walk 15km, 24km or 58km for youth mental health and suicide prevention in WA. This is the second time we’ve taken part in this initiative, and we’re so excited to be a part of it again this year!
The mission.
This WA-wide fundraiser is an initiative of Youth Focus, an incredible organisation that exists to support young people struggling with mental health. Their mission is to prevent youth suicide and create life opportunities for young people experiencing mental health challenges. They do this by promoting and advocating for the delivery of free and accessible professional counselling services, education, and programs.
With suicide as the leading cause of death for young people under the age of 25 — and one suicide in this age bracket happening every week in WA — we knew we wanted to support Walk With Me from the moment we heard about it.
Ways to walk.
When you join the Sista Team, you can walk your chosen distance (15km, 24km or 58km) inside our gyms in your own time, or join one of our four Sista Walk With Me Group Sessions (which are super social and fun!).
The group walks will be held at Riverside Gardens in Bayswater, central to both our gym locations. You’ll be joined by one of our Sista PTs and staff at each walk, and able to book the session via the Sista App.
Giving back.
Aside from the obvious mission of raising funds and awareness for youth mental health and suicide prevention in WA, it wouldn’t be a Sista Event without giving back to our members. There will be prizes awarded to the highest fundraisers! As a bonus, Sista Fitness will donate $20 for every person who attends each of our group walks.
